There is a large difference in flow between the USGS & USACE
The water quality on this creek leaves something to be desired. You definitely need a hot shower when you get home. At this level, it was a little low at the put-in but got better as you moved down the creek especially after the Slippery Rock comes in about halfway down. The top part had the more technical rapids which required some maneuvering. These included Calgon Ledge and Connie's Challenge. Calgon was a river-wide 3ft ledge that is divided by a large rock. We decided to go down the left side of the divider rock which is the wider side that has the larger hole. We ran it close to another rock on the left down the clearly visible tongue and eddied out to the left. After Calgon there were a couple more rock garden rapids with some small ledges and then came Connie's Challenge. This rapid requires maneuvering around some large rocks. We started out left and took the chute to the right of the large rock on the left. At this level it wasn't too challenging. There was some flat-water to paddle through here but after passing the 1st takeout at the bus garage, the Slippery Rock added to the flow and things picked up again. The rapids below this point were less technical mainly pushy wavetrain & rock garden rapids with one ledgey section before returning to flat-water nearing the takeout.
