When I heard the flow was over 2000 cfs, I was ready to chicken out. Boy am I glad I didn't! This was an awesome fun run! The water was really moving and the waves were BIG and pushy, to me at least. I tried to follow Bruce as best I could but not without some glaring mistakes. I chickened out on one scary looking rapid and went to far right and got pulled into the eddy but managed to make it through upright. I ran the sneak line down the right of the Dry Fork Hydraulic. I did manage to skirt around a couple of unexpected holes impressing myself and the rest of the group. Most of this run was long, continuous wave trains through rock gardens with only a few holes. Although this is what I loved the most about the trip, it was also my downfall. I was really enjoying the waves on the last rapid before my take-out (within sight of the truck.) What looked to me to be a long straight-forward wave train, actually hid a hole and, of course, I found it, got flipped and swam once again. Damn, the water was COLD! Dave & Bruce helped rescue me but instead of swimming to shore and getting back in, I had to be helped back into the boat midstream. It was pretty hard and if not for Dave helping pull me up, I don't think I could have done it. I really need to work on a self rescue. I took out before the others above the two Class 4 rapids above & below Otter Creek. I definitely want to run this again. Next time in the hard boat!
