Canyon- Halfway down to the dam, things seemed to get bigger.
Carpenters Park to Greenhouse Park - Below Carpenters Park, there were some good class II rapids. Some rapids had big waves. Below the Rte 219 Bridge there was another pipeline - The best line would be far right.

I got flipped by a breaking wave at Rooster Tail. The Beast has an easy line on the left and a hard line on the right. The top section consists of several holes which a good passage should be found most likely on the right side.

Canyon

Foustwell to Carpenters Park

4.5 miles

Class 3-4

Level: 3.98 @ Ferndale (989 cfs)

2 1/4 on both bridge piers (put-in and take-out)

Good level

5-1-04

Craft: OC-1 Mohawk Probe 12

Description: From the put-in to Border Dam is approximately 3 miles. This section is class 3 at the listed water level. High water would produce class 4 characteristics. Below the put-in, after passing Shade Creek, there are several ledges that produce hydraulics. Then, there are more ledges, blind channels around islands and boulder drops. The dam is marked by a long pool and an old mill on river right. I wouldn't recommend running this. Boards are missing and rebar is exposed. Portage on the left. Just below, a horizon line will be noticed. This is Pipeline, a man made structure forming a river wide hole. You can scout on river left. There is a weakness on the left. After this point, things tame down a bit. However, look out for a rapid that has a mean hole on the right. It is easy to avoid.
